Millennium Dental Technologies announced the launch of the LANAP® AI Workflow during the California Dental Association meeting in Anaheim on May 15. The new workflow integrates the company’s PerioLase® MVP-7™ dental laser with the Zyris Isolite® Pro system, aiming to enhance procedural efficiency for clinicians performing the LANAP protocol and other laser-assisted treatments.
According to Millennium, the LANAP AI Workflow is designed to reduce chair time by enabling hands-free suction, retraction, and airway protection through the Isolite Pro system. The setup allows for uninterrupted access to the treatment site while supporting infection control by reducing airborne particles.
“With the LANAP AI Workflow, LANAP-trained clinicians benefit from a set of virtual hands, helping them save time and treat an average of two to three more patients per day,” said Robert H. Gregg II, DDS, founder and president of Millennium Dental Technologies. “The new workflow is especially ideal for general dentists who may have limited staff or want to increase production and provide more efficient treatment to their patients.”
The LANAP protocol is a minimally invasive treatment option for patients with moderate to severe periodontal disease and can only be performed using the PerioLase MVP-7. The protocol is designed to regenerate bone and periodontal tissues without cutting or sutures.
Gregg added that the enhanced visibility of the oral field, combined with the Isolite Pro’s continuous suction, supports safety and clinical efficiency, particularly in practices with limited staffing.
“By combining the power of the Isolite Pro system with the LANAP protocol, we’re enabling clinicians to deliver more efficient, precise and patient-centered treatment – especially at a time when streamlined workflows and staff flexibility are more essential than ever,” said Paula Mann, vice president of sales and marketing at Zyris, Inc.
The training required to perform the LANAP protocol is conducted through the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD). The five-day program includes both didactic and hands-on training with live patients under the supervision of certified instructors. The curriculum also includes instruction in using the Isolite Pro in conjunction with the PerioLase MVP-7.
“Zyris shares our commitment to training by ensuring each clinician has the advanced proficiency to deliver successful and predictable outcomes for every patient,” said Dawn M. Gregg, DDS, training director at IALD.
In addition to LANAP, the PerioLase MVP-7 is used in several other protocols developed by Millennium Dental Technologies. These include LAPIP™ for treating ailing and failing dental implants, BLAST™ for peri-implantitis and implant integration, and a suite of soft- and hard-tissue procedures under the VAPS™ designation. These procedures include treatments for temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), hemangiomas, fibromas, depigmentation, hemostasis, and decontamination of extraction sites.
