Medidenta has acquired the Ferguson Mini 8KS accessories business from Dr. Rick Ferguson, who is recognized as a renowned educator and digital dentistry pioneer. The company will take over production, fulfillment, and support for the product line as part of a broader move into digital dentistry and 3D printing.
According to the company, the acquisition is intended to address growing demand for the accessories, which were originally custom-designed by Ferguson for use with the Phrozen Mini 8KS 3D printer. These accessories have been used by dental practices to implement digital workflows with lower initial investment.
“Having both followed and worked with Dr. Ferguson, we were thrilled at the opportunity to further partner with his innovations in the 3D printing arena,” said Sean Ryan of Medidenta. “His products and passion align perfectly with our push into education and digital dentistry at Medidenta.”
Ferguson, who founded the Dental 3D Printing Group in 2018, has collaborated with multiple printer and resin manufacturers to expand access to 3D printing technologies in dentistry. His accessory designs have seen widespread use but have also outpaced his ability to produce and fulfill orders independently.
“Medidenta’s long-standing reputation, robust infrastructure, and commitment to dental innovation make them the ideal partner to carry this business forward,” Ferguson said. “This transition will improve ship times, enhance support, and ensure dentists have the tools they need to succeed in digital dentistry. I will continue to provide technical support to all accessory users to ensure a smooth transition.”
According to the company, the following changes will take place as a result of the acquisition:
-
Improved fulfillment: Full-scale manufacturing by Medidenta is expected to ramp up over the next 6–8 weeks.
-
No service gaps: Orders placed before the acquisition will be fulfilled directly by Ferguson.
-
Ongoing support: Ferguson will remain involved to provide technical support during the transition.
-
Educational opportunities: Medidenta will continue to offer education at its Las Vegas facility to help clinicians adopt and optimize digital workflows.
