Henry Schein One announced an update to its Dentrix Ascend cloud-based practice management platform, introducing three new packages built on an integrated platform architecture designed to support dental practices and dental service organizations (DSOs) in managing clinical, operational, and revenue cycle workflows within a single system.
The update expands the Dentrix Ascend platform with additional tools intended to connect practice management, clinical documentation, imaging, and revenue cycle functions. According to the company, Dentrix and Dentrix Ascend are currently used by more than 48,000 dental practices in the United States and by 90 percent of the top 50 DSOs, collectively supporting approximately 100 million claims each year.
Platform Updates and Workflow Integration
The newly introduced packages incorporate technologies intended to support administrative and clinical workflows within dental practices.
Among the additions are:
- Digital Forms, which uses artificial intelligence to capture insurance information from photos of a patient’s driver’s license, insurance card, and credit card to populate records. The company reports that 22 million forms were completed using this system in 2025.
- Eligibility Pro, a tool that retrieves benefits information from multiple sources, including insurance portals, and automatically loads coverage details into the patient record. Henry Schein One reports that 191 million eligibility checks were completed using this capability in 2025.
- Image Verify, an artificial intelligence–based image quality assessment agent that evaluates clinical images at the time they are captured and provides a star rating intended to help identify potential issues that could contribute to claim denials.
- Voice Notes, developed with AWS, which converts chairside conversations into structured clinical documentation using generative artificial intelligence to transcribe and summarize in real time.
These features are designed to integrate with technologies already used in dental practices. Henry Schein One reports that its platform includes more than 250 technology partners and over 700 application programming interface (API) endpoints to support integrations.
“When intelligence, documentation, imaging, and reimbursement are natively connected inside the core platform—supported by agentic AI working in the background—clean claims and strong outcomes become repeatable,” said Dr. Ryan Hungate, Chief Clinical and Strategy Officer at Henry Schein One. “The next era of Dentrix Ascend reflects our commitment to building systems of action—not disconnected add-ons—that allow teams to focus on care, not corrections. That’s how performance scales.”
Three Package Options
The updated Dentrix Ascend platform is offered in three packages built on the same underlying system architecture.
- Ascend Essentials is designed for newer or smaller practices seeking core practice management workflows and basic analytics. The package includes payments, claims processing, appointment scheduling, patient messaging, Image Verify, and Voice Notes.
- Ascend Pro is intended for established practices requiring additional automation and operational capabilities. It includes all Essentials features along with expanded eligibility checks and support for multi-location management.
- Ascend Accelerate is designed for larger or multi-location organizations. The package includes the Pro feature set along with enterprise reporting tools, additional Eligibility Pro checks, system optimization tools, and expanded artificial intelligence functionality.
Implementation and Support
Henry Schein One also introduced Claire, an AI-powered support agent designed to provide continuous assistance, facilitate onboarding, and support system conversions for practices transitioning to Dentrix Ascend.
“As we scale, complexity becomes expensive,” said Dr. Jaleh Pourhamidi of Today’s Dental Network. “With Dentrix Ascend, everything works together by design—imaging, documentation, claims, and payments in one system. Our teams spend less time fixing issues and more time focused on patients and performance.”
