Videa has announced the launch of Ambient Intelligence, a conversational intelligence platform developed to help dental practices analyze patient-provider interactions during care delivery. The technology is part of the company’s broader artificial intelligence platform, which includes imaging, clinical workflow, and voice-based tools.
According to the company, Ambient Intelligence is designed specifically for dental settings and aims to help practices identify communication patterns across case presentations and patient interactions. The platform is intended to provide insight into how treatment discussions are received by patients, where communication challenges may occur, and how dental teams can address common patient concerns and hesitations more effectively.
“Imagine a dental practice where each conversation helps make the next appointment more impactful: providers get sharper with every case, and the entire team has more context to support the patient the best way possible and deliver better care,” said Florian Hillen, founder and CEO of Videa. “That is the opportunity we see with Ambient Intelligence. Voice in dentistry can do much more than document a visit. It can help practices learn from everyday interactions and turn those moments into insight that improves care.”
The company stated that the initial focus of Ambient Intelligence is to help practices evaluate which communication approaches are most effective in supporting patient acceptance of recommended care, including how treatment options are explained and how patients respond during discussions.
Potential applications identified by the company include:
-
Identifying areas where patients may require additional clarification regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care
-
Evaluating how providers communicate findings, recommendations, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes
-
Supporting improvements in patient understanding, confidence, and treatment follow-through
-
Comparing treatment discussions across providers, practice locations, or appointment types
“The value of Ambient Intelligence comes down to two things: conversion and hospitality,” said Dr. Chris Salierno, Chief Dental Officer at Tend Dental. “Whether it is coaching a provider on ways to connect better with patients or identifying patterns that impact case acceptance, nothing else gives us that window into the room. It is invaluable.”
Videa also reported that within 6 months of launching its Voice Notes product, the platform generated approximately 30,000 notes derived from more than 22,500 hours of recorded audio collected across hundreds of dental practices.
In addition, the company announced that Voice Perio is now available for practices using Dentrix Core, Dentrix Ascend, and OpenDental. The tool allows hygienists to document periodontal measurements, including pocket depths, bleeding, recession, and mobility, using hands-free voice input. Combined with Voice Notes, the expanded compatibility extends the company’s voice-enabled documentation tools across additional areas of dental practice operations.
Ambient Intelligence is currently available to a select group of Voice Notes users. A waitlist is scheduled to open May 12, with broader availability anticipated by the end of 2026.
