SHINING 3D Dental has announced the global launch of the Ceramix-Nano, a chairside 3D printer designed to produce permanent ceramic crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and Maryland bridges during a single appointment.
The Ceramix-Nano uses patented Adaptive Pneumatic Stereolithography (APS) technology and can complete a full scan-to-restoration workflow in as little as 30 minutes. The workflow includes crown design in under two minutes using SHINING FLOW, an 8- to 11-minute print cycle, and a three-minute curing process.
The device weighs 2 kilograms and measures 87 x 131 x 276 millimeters. According to the company, it integrates printing and curing in a single unit and does not require dedicated laboratory space or secondary equipment. The company also said the printer is integrated with its AI Cloud Design workflow.
“What continues to impress clinicians about SHINING 3D is their ability to deliver powerful capability in such a compact design. This new capsule printer brings powerful chairside printing for long-term restorations into an incredibly small and efficient system,” said Isaac Tawil, DDS, MS, of Brooklyn, New York.
According to the company, the Ceramix-Nano uses a capsule-based material system in which each cartridge contains a pre-measured quantity of ceramic-filled resin. By scanning a QR code on the capsule, the printer automatically configures settings, stirs the resin and begins the printing process. A single capsule can produce up to three restorations, according to the company.
The printer is fully integrated with SHINING FLOW, the company's cloud-based scan-design-print platform, allowing restoration files to move from design to print within the same system.
According to SHINING 3D Dental, the Ceramix-Nano is optimized for use with LumiCera, a ceramic-filled resin available in VITA shades BL, A1, A2, B1 and C2. The company said LumiCera has received FDA Class II 510(k) clearance. The printer also supports SAREMCO CROWNTEC for practices using other material systems.
The Ceramix-Nano became available June 18 in North America and Asia through authorized SHINING 3D Dental distributors. According to the company, availability in Europe and additional regions is expected to follow.
Founded in Hangzhou, China, in 2004, SHINING 3D develops 3D vision technologies for industrial metrology, digital dentistry and reverse engineering. Through its dental division, the company provides scan-design-print digital workflows for dental practices and laboratories.
