Spectrum Killian, National Dentex Labs (NDX), and Open Implants have announced their combination under SPEKTRA, a new parent company bringing together dental laboratory services, digital manufacturing, and implant component production.
The organization will combine Spectrum Killian’s manufacturing processes with NDX’s international laboratory network and Open Implants' implant component manufacturing capabilities. According to the announcement, SPEKTRA intends to integrate technology, manufacturing, and clinical support through digital workflows for restorative dentistry.
Spectrum Killian operates Centers of Excellence in California, where restorative manufacturing is organized into documented, repeatable processes. NDX operates an international network of local dental laboratories supported by manufacturing infrastructure and relationships with dental practices. Open Implants is an FDA-registered manufacturer of implant components.
The companies stated that the combination is intended to address differences among the technologies, manufacturing processes, and support systems used in digital dentistry, particularly as dental practices incorporate intraoral scanning and chairside workflows.
“For too long, dentistry has been fragmented and slow to adopt digital technology. The clinical tools, the materials, and the manufacturing behind them were never built to work together,” said Charbel Louis Karam, chief executive officer of SPEKTRA. “SPEKTRA is changing that. We are building one integrated oral health ecosystem where the clinician and everything standing behind the restoration finally move as one. Together, we will redefine oral health to better serve our patients and the clinicians.”
According to SPEKTRA, the combined organization will focus on developing manufacturing processes and digital workflows intended to provide more consistent restorative production and clinical support.
